Service Records Are Available. Two long wheelbase trims, Executive L and Cartier L, are part of the Town Car lineup for 2001. In addition, power has been increased and a number of features have been added, including power adjustable pedals. The first Lincoln to be named the Town Car was introduced in 1981. Since then it has adopted assorted interpretations of the square, upright styling that had been a Lincoln trademark since the early 60s. All that changed in 1998 with the arrival of a completely new Town Car that stylishly mixed traditional Lincoln luxury with a contemporary new chassis and exterior. The newest Town Car retained its V8 powered rear drive configuration, while incorporating numerous chassis, body, and interior changes to produce a car that is over 80 percent new. Attracting both the traditional Lincoln owner as well as a new generation of buyers who consider style just as important as comfort and luxury was one of the goals of the most recent Town Car redesign.
